DWP Energy Efficiency & Water Conservation Measures
 
The special DWP Energy Efficiency and Water Conservation Measures presentation for LABC membership took place on 9/11. We were joined By Jeff Petola, CFO, Los Angeles Department of Water & Power and Thomas Gackstetter, Director of Energy Efficiency, Los Angeles Department of Water & Power who provided several cost saving opportunities available to DWP major users. Please see the linked copies of each presentation to learn more about these measures. We will host the same meeting for Downtown members in the coming weeks and look forward to seeing LABC members who were unable to attend on 9/11.

This year’s summit will highlight beneficial legislation and engage the private sector in ongoing and new ideas regarding how to support business and sustainability. Our invited Keynote speaker, Senator Barbara Boxer, Chair of the Committee on Environment and Public Works will provide a dense synopsis of various legislation including the Federal Stimulus, the Highway Act and others aiming to offer incentives for green tech innovation. The summit will also feature several state legislators and key officials, such as California State Senator Alex Padilla, Chair, Committee on Energy, Utilities and Communications, California State Assemblyman Bob Blumenfield, Chair, Subcommittee on Information Technology and Transportation, Alan Rothenberg, President, Board of Airport Commissioners, Los Angeles World Airports, Richard Katz, Board Member, METRO, David Nahai, General Manager, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and Michael Peevey, President, California Public Utilities Commission, who are working towards positing California and Los Angeles as the central hub for green tech and innovation.

Our business leaders will play a central role in the summit by providing keynotes and private sector solutions to sustaining business through the adoption of environmental standards.
