Supportive housing is 90% effective at ending homelessness. On Tuesday, March 20 L.A. City Council members pledged unanimously to support a minimum of 222 units of supportive housing in each of their districts by July 1, 2020. That’s 3,330 units in total—or about one-third of the City’s 10,000 unit goal. Now it’s up to all of us to make sure the units get built.

The first step to bringing supportive housing to a district is getting a Letter of Commitment from a city councilmember, indicating that they approve using funds from Proposition HHH for the project. The next step is securing the funding from specific Proposition HHH bonds. Once the units are funded, they can be built.
